Thanks Giving Day

Thanks giving a national holiday preliminary celebrated on fourth Thursday in United States and second Monday in Canada. The day is celebrated for giving thanks for the blessing of the harvests. Thanks giving have its own historical importance, tradition and culture.  

  

How It Started?

When the first corn of the pilgrims in November 1621 was successful Governor William Bradford arranged a feast for celebrating the success. For the celebration he invited the special group of fledgling colony’s Native American allies along with the Wampanoag chief Massasoit. This festival which lasted for three long days is now remembered as “First Thanksgiving”.

                 In the celebration the most observing factor was the food that was served for the quest. The food which was served has its own story. It started in the following way. For the preparation of the event Governor William Bradford send four men on this hunt mission and that the Wampanoag had arrived with five deer. The food was prepared using traditional Native American cooking methods and spices. The celebration was without the pies, cakes or other deserts as no oven was available at that time. Also Mayflower’s sugar supply had dropped by the fall of 1621. 
                 First Thanks Giving proclamation by national government of United states was issued in 1789 by Gorge Washington. New York the first of the several states adopted the annual Thanksgiving holiday in 1817. In 1863 Abraham Lincoln Scheduled Thanks Giving as an National Holiday for the final Thursday  which was celebrated on every year until 1939.Today Thanks giving tradition has lost its religious significance which centre’s around cooking and sharing ample of meal.90% of Americans eat bird on Thanks Giving day according to survey of National Turkey Federation.

Importance of flowers on Thanksgiving Day:

                 Thanks giving day is celebration time with Turkey, Stuffing and Pumpkin pie, and this feast would be incomplete without beautiful, colorful and fresh flower arrangements, centerpieces and bouquet. Thanks giving include autumn flowers like Marigold, Monte Casino etc. The traditional thanks giving flowers uses the combination of deep red, yellow and orange colored flowers.
                 Thanks giving flowers with colors of fall are regarded as best Thanks giving flowers for the centerpiece which includes lilies, carnations etc. This arrangement of oranges and yellows, accented with cat-tails, is the perfect way to celebrate any fall occasion especially on Thanks Giving Day.
